Cades Cove Hiking Trails
Today, visitors will find over a dozen hiking and horseback riding
trails that begin in Cades Cove that range from easy, afternoon
hikes to multi-night wilderness excursions. Among the most popular
hikes is the 5 mile (round trip) trail that follows Abrams Creek
to impressive Abrams Falls. For a real step into history, the
peaceful Cooper Road Trail will take visitors back to the 1830s,
when this 10-mile foot trail was the primary means to haul goods
to and from Maryville. Serious backpackers should consider the
Hannah Mountain trail, which affords an excellent view of Cades
Cove from the crest of Hannah Mountain. Originally dug in the
1940s by Cherokees, this 8-10 mile trail will take at least a day
to complete.
