Townsend Events
Townsend offers fantastic events during the Spring and Fall for
visitors to enjoy all that the region has to offer. The Spring
Festival, Fall Heritage Festival and Old Timers Day are all known
for the bluegrass music, Appalachian arts and crafts, wildflower
and nature programs, and storytelling as well as the natural
beauty you can take in by lifting your eyes to the mountains
surrounding this quaint village nestled within the Smoky
Mountains. Visitors will be wowed by the local cloggers that take
center stage at the Townsend Visitors Center while bands pick
their guitars and strum away on their fiddles with the sounds of
mountain life filling the air. Once you arrive, your ears will be
filled with a musical blend of the many bluegrass jamming sessions
surrounding the Townsend Visitors Center with musicians from all
over. Other attractions often include antique tractor and engine
displays, kid's games, and pie-eating contests. The Great Barbeque
Cookoff rounds out the festival with scrumptious foods available
to try. Whether you bring your own lawn chair or take a seat on
the hay bales, sit back and enjoy a day of crafts, music, and fun.
Don't miss the opportunity to absorb the mountain heritage during
these festivals!
